Spa Etiquette

At Firecracker Beauty Spa we define our success by the satisfaction of our clients. To ensure the happiness of every guest, we ask you review these rules of spa etiquette prior to your visit and observe them during your time at Firecracker Beauty Spa.

Cancellations and No Shows: Due to limited scheduling availability, it’s crucial for the business and our clients that appointments be kept on time or cancelled with adequate notice.

We value your business and appreciate your cooperation in the spa’s scheduling policies. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, kindly notify us at least 24 hours in advance to avoid cancellation fees. Cancellation/no show with less than 24 hours of notice will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled service.

Late Arrival: If you are more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, we may be unable to accommodate your treatment, however you will be required to pay the price of the original appointment regardless of the duration of the service we’re able to provide in the limited time frame. In addition, we may require prepayment on future appointments. We appreciate your understanding and respectfully ask you adhere to our policy and be respectful in helping us maintain a consistent schedule for all our clients.

You may call the spa at 1-505-433-3150 to inform them of your late arrival or cancellation.

Cell Phone Policy: Please help us maintain a tranquil environment by silencing your cell phone upon arrival.

Medical Concerns or Conditions (including possible pregnancy): To enjoy a safe and nurturing spa experience, please advise us of any medical conditions or allergies prior to your service, including possible pregnancy, which may impact the spa treatments you’re able to safely receive.

Gratuities: Gratuities are not included in treatment prices. They can be added at the time of payment and are greatly appreciated!

Treatment Attire: Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. If your treatment service requires you to be undressed, you’ll be provided any necessary disposable under garments and privacy to comfortably undress.

Frequently Asked Questions (& Answers)

Fibroblast Plasma Pen

Q: What is a plasma pen and how does it work?

A: By gently exfoliating the skin with electrostatic energy, the Dermavel Plasma Pen stimulates collagen and protein production in the fibroblast cells of the skin. Simply put, you’ll have healthier skin!

Q: Does it hurt?

A: It depends on the person but most people find it mildly, to tolerably uncomfortable. The skin close to your eyes is particularly sensitive, but still bearable.

Body Composition Analysis

Q: What is Body Composition?

A: Body composition is the individual make-up of each body’s total mass. The accurate and precise InBody 570 Body Composition Analyzer provides standard outputs like Percent Body Fat, Skeletal Muscle Mass, and BMR, plus Total Body Water, Visceral Fat assessment, and other vital measurements so you have an exact picture of your body’s composition.

Q: What do I do to prepare?

A: Mostly just show up with some light clothing to wear during the analysis. There are some particulars so check out this page prior to your visit to be fully prepared and get the most accurate results.

Sugaring & Waxing

Q: How long does my hair have to be?

A: For optimal results your hair needs to be at least 1/4 of an inch long. If you normally shave, stop at least 3 weeks before waxing or sugaring.

Q: What is a Bikini Sugar/Wax?

A: The Bikini Sugar/Wax removes hair that would be showing outside of your bathing suit or underwear. We offer clients disposable underwear for this treatment.

Q: What is a Brazilian Sugar/Wax?

A: A Brazilian Sugar/Wax removes all the in your bikini region—from the navel strip down! This includes the top of the pubis, labia, and in between the cheeks. You may leave a strip or triangle on the top if you don’t want to be completely bare.

Q: How long does Sugaring/Waxing last?

A: Hair grows in three stages. For most people a treatment lasts between 2 and 3 weeks before you start seeing new growth. To maintain smoothness, we recommend getting sugared every 4-6 weeks.

Q: How do I prepare for my Brazilian or Bikini Sugar/Wax?

A: Gently exfoliate prior to your first treatment. Taking 1-2 Ibuprofen, 30 minutes prior to your treatment can ease any discomfort and inflammation.

Q: Is there anything I should NOT do before a sugar/wax appointment?

A: Avoid caffeine and alcohol 24 hours prior to treatment. Do not tan or soak in a hot tub  24 hours prior to treatment and 24 hours post-treatment. Do not shave or trim the hair for 3 weeks prior to your appointment.

Q: Can my hair be too long?

A: No. Your hair can be too short but never too long. Depending on the length, we may trim prior to treatment, but I do not recommend trimming your own hair as you may trim too short and reduce the effectiveness of hair removal treatment.

Q: Can I Sugar/Wax while on my period or while pregnant?

A: Yes. Your skin is more sensitive prior to and during your cycle and while pregnant, but you can still receive treatment. If you have any concerns, please talk to your doctor.

Q: Will my skin be red?

A: Probably. Skin can stay red anywhere from 1-24 hours after treatment. Avoid using pools, hot tubs, and saunas 24 hours after treatment. Try to avoid working out for 24 hours to give the skin time to heal. Sweat and friction can cause irritation. If you experience prolonged redness, a cold compress or hydrocortisone cream may help.

Q: How do I prevent ingrown hairs?

A: EXFOLIATE! Exfoliating removes dead skin, allowing new hair to grow free. Wait to exfoliate 2 days after treatment for best results.

Q: What if I’m taking medications?

A: Taking antibiotics or topical acne medicines (including Accutane, Differin, Retin A) may make skin more sensitive and susceptible to lifting. You CANNOT sugar/wax while taking Accutane. If you have any questions or concerns, talk to your doctor.

Q: Do you double dip?

A: NEVER! I discard every spatula and get a new one with every new sugar ball or application to the skin. NO DOUBLE DIPPING!
